This year's race registration just closed on 15th March, 2009 with over 6,000 registrants which was based on first come first serve, with the slots filled within 135minutes. With this,Some people were not able to register due to high volume of traffic to the website. The Organisers are reviewing the calls and emails on those issues and will be working on a plan to address each of them.

To find out if your registration went through, runneres can go to the site, www.beach3beacon.org and click on the entrants tab to check for their respective names.

As frustrating as some people that were not able to make registration might be,we cannot take away the good job that the Organisers of the Race has put in place.

2009 Pac-10 Men's Basketball

This afternoon the NCAA will formally issue invitations to universities across the nation for their basketball teams to participation in the crowning jewel of all college sports.

The 2009 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament is the pinnacle of collegiate sports competition.
At least half of the Pac-10 conference teams will receive and invitation to The Big Dance.
Dare anyone expect more than five teams to have their ticket punched?

On the heels of a tremendous season of basketball for the Pac-10, here’s a fair warning.
Expect the unexpected.

Why?
Way back in November, stretching the boundaries of anyone’s memory, few visionaries issued expectations for Pac-10 play that included how things actually played out.
Here’s just a few of the surprises that were the Pac-10 regular season and tournament play:

· For the first time in over two generations, Washington Husky fans were cheering about an outright Pac-10 conference basketball championship.
· Oregon State went from a doormat by losing every conference game last season to a very respectable 7-11 with an unheralded head man in the person of Coach Craig Robinson.
· UCLA and USC were replacing last season’s freshmen stars, Kevin Love and OJ Mayo, with a pair of highly touted young men who were expected to fill those shoes. But it was the freshman for the Huskies, Isaiah Thomas who earned the honor of top first year player.
· The Pac-10 Tournament finals featured two teams that had yet to win the tournament title.
· No team had ever made it through the Pac-10 Tournament as a No. 6 seed to win it all. The USC Trojans earned that place in history yesterday.
· WSU was 1-51 against UCLA in Pauley Pavilion. A few years back, Coach Dick Bennett caught the Bruins napping on a Saturday afternoon and established a first. This season his son, Coach Tony Bennett, led the Cougs to a second win in the most unlikely way. WSU yielded 81 points to UCLA and still came away with a win.
· Despite the surprise retirement of the dean of Pac-10 coaches, Lute Olsen, Arizona rallied for a solid season of play under interim Coach Russ Pennell.
· Despite an outstanding record of accomplishment at the University of Oregon, many voices across Duck Nation are crying for the ouster of Coach Ernie Kent. Have they forgotten that just a few years back Coach Kent was Pac-10 Coach of the Year? Have Duck fans noticed that Coach Kent had the second youngest roster in the conference?
· Coach Mike Montgomery returned to the coaching ranks of the Pac-10 by taking over the Cal basketball program. With last season’s best player heading off to the NBA, few expected the Bears to finish tied for third ahead of Arizona, USC and WSU. Seems that many forgot just how great a college coach Montgomery was and still is.
This has been an outstanding season of men’s basketball for the universities comprising the Pac-10 conference.
There’s more to come as well.
Post season tournament play is just around the corner.
What might you expect from the Pac-10 teams heading off to tournament competition.
Expect the unexpected.
Seriously.

NCAA Men's basketball tournament odds for 2009

The NCAA Men's basketball tournament odds for 2009 will be available immediately following the Selection Sunday show at Bookmaker.com.

As anyone who's been around online gambling as long as Gambling911.com has knows, Bookmaker.com is part of the BetCRIS.com family of fine sportsbooks and they happen to be the oldest established catering to the North American market since 1985 (they opened up as a call center only sportsbook and came online in 1997).

It is beneficial to get the lines for the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament early on in order to obtain the best number, but be sure to keep an eye on those line movements as well. Here's why: Bookmaker.com is home to more "sharp" bettors than anyone else (the so-called wise guys). If the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament odds move dramatically (by more than a half point) in any one direction from the time in which they open, you can rest assured that the "sharps" were hitting that number.

Bookmaker.com tends to offer some of the best odds. They also feature the top 10 bets - which teams the public is on. As a general rule of thumb, one should always consider betting against the public as they are wrong more times than not. Unfortunately, we don't always know when they will be wrong.

They also offer betting on quarters and half times of games.
Like most online sportsbooks, Bookmaker.coes offer a March Madness contest:

Bracket Contest Prizes:
1st PRIZE - $5000 cash + 50" Flat-Panel TV (Worth: $2700)
